Having just retired from my injury plagued football career that day, instead of facing the facts that my life was about to change, I decided to run away from making any real life decisions. I had never run more than 10 kilometres before, and I thought it was a “good idea” to sign up to what’s deemed by the Discovery Channel as “The Toughest Footrace on Earth” – The Marathon des Sables.
