Speaking at Tedx
For over 10 years now, i've been speaking on stages, at events, and spending countless hours on a microphone in various settings sharing not only my own personal story, but what i've learnt in my journey to where I am today.
I thought it was about time I jumped onto a @tedx_official stage and have a new experience.
I'm extremely excited to announce i'll be on the @tedxwolverhampton stage come October 1st.
If you'd like to come and join in the fun, there is a link in my bio for tickets.
See you there!

What Did You Learn?
I was recently asked this question by someone who reached out to me on social media, after watching my 2000km in 12 day Ultimate Triathlon from documentary on Amazon.
This world first experience took years of planning, I still made mistakes, and it didn't go exactly to plan…
However, I did learn some valuable lessons from this experience. SWIPE 👉🏽

PRIORITISE YOUR TIME & ENERGY…
When you look at HOW to set yourself up to achieve your goals, there are so many tips, hacks, and even procedures that promise you the ‘Magic Formula.’
Whether you want to achieve a new PB for a race, run your first marathon, or complete a triathlon distance you never have before; if you’re looking for one thing to remember, it’s prioritise your time & energy!
If you are taking on a triathlon, prioritise swimming, cycling, and running.
Once you do this, prioritise doing things (or not doing things) which will have a negative affect on the things you prioritised above.
Example
If your coach has set you a big training weekend, prioritise sleep, high quality nutrition, and overall rest (when possible) in the days leading up to the weekend.
If you find it hard to prioritise your training, resting, eating, or recovering; then it’s time to review WHY you want to do what you are aiming for.
In short, to achieve your goals, prioritise your limited time & energy to do the KEY FUNDAMENTALS which are needed to accomplish them.
Alongside, not doing anything that will sabotage the positive affects of these Key Fundamentals.
Simple right….😉

THANK YOU
I want to say a massive thanks to all those who have listened to an episode (or 10) of my latest series of The Luke’s Lowdown Podcast.
The guests I chatted with shared how they have been able to overcome obstacles and adapt to setbacks during their endurance sports feats.
The tools they have shared and principles they use are insightful and no doubt impactful for so many of those you have listened in.
If you have listened to any or all of the episodes, I’d love to know which episode is your favourite and what you have learnt.
Also, I want to say a massive thanks to all my guests as well.

Start & Finish
Another inspiring and fun day on the 🎤 for @challenging_events hosting their Swashbuckler Standard & Middle distance triathlons. (and Aquabikes)
So many amazing performances, and sprint finishes up what I dubbed the ‘Hill of Glory!’
The finishing line where I cheered on every single athlete across was up a steep hill, exposed to the hot sun, however all the athletes were smiling as they crossed the line.
JOB DONE!
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Congratulations to all those who raced today, it was a pleasure to cheer for you all day long!

Tights or Compression Tights?
I’ve been a big fan of compression tights, even before I started my journey into the world of endurance sports over a decade ago.
When I played football, I would wear them during training, and then afterwards as well.
My legs feel less fatigued after hard sessions when wearing compression tights.
My muscles stay warm during these sessions, and this helps me psychologically to know i’m minimising a risk of injury.
Post session, when I put my @2xu compression tights on, this signals me that it’s time to rest, put my feet up, and start my recovery before my next session.
No all tights are compression tights, so choose your wisely…

Find A Way
Todays Marathon Swim (10km) at @dorneylake wasn’t easy.
To be honest, I don’t think any 10k swim is easy, just varying ranges of hard…🤣
Why was it so hard?
It felt like I was swimming in the ocean, not a lake.
The choppy water bouncing me around, and the high winds making me feel like I was going backwards at times really made this swim tough.
Did I enjoy it? 💯%!
Yes it was an extremely tough swim, but that doesn’t mean you cannot enjoy things that are hard, difficult, and make you feel like your arms are filled with concrete…🤔
The final 2.5kms into the wind sucked, but I accepted the suck, stayed efficient with my stroke, and made sure I just kept swimming!
Big shout out to @2xu for the amazing wetsuit.
@premax.co for neck lube
(no chaffing 👌🏽)
And @33fuel for their energising Chia Energy Gels that fuelled my swim.
